Photos, Missionaries & Fatherhood

My thoughts and feelings as I read the mission events of Miss Kate, oops, I mean Sister O’Reilly and reflect upon my life, my actions, and my role as a Husband, Dad, and now Grandfather.

As the organizer of this special blog, I am befuddled as to why there has been no contact with Miss Kate for over a week. Now it is time for us to reach out to her and send her our love. My big fear is that sickness has run her into the bed with no ability to send out any word as to what is happening. With that in mind, here is my letter to her...

Sister O’Reilly:

We haven’t heard anything from you for over a week and we pray that all is well with you. It has been an absolutely crazy week for the Leavitt family.

SHELLY - Shelly is in her mid-run of the play Arsenic & Old Lace at the Valley Center Playhouse. She has rally become the part of the old lady with all the walking, hand, and facial movements that you would associate with an elderly old woman. The VCP closes its doors at the end of 2013, so this will be the end of an era.

HAILY - Haily participated in Chalk The Block at the Riverwoods this past weekend while also being voted Orem High’s Homecoming Queen. Yes I know that she was also the Prom Queen, but now she has two tiaras and we are doing our best to help her stay grounded. She finished her run as Woodstock in Charlie Brown and is looking forward to being a prince in some version of Henry the 7th for the Shakespeare Festival. As a life lesson, Haily and I left the football game with her having changed into her jeans and T-shirt, but still sporting the crown. Due to bad rain storms she was unable to fulfill her part in the Chalk The Block work of art and she has consigned herself to the fact that she was just too busy. She had already invested several hours the day before, but the storm after school prevented her from finishing her part. I suggested that we drive by the Riverwoods, in the dark, and see how the project was going and she said okay. We arrived and pulled back the plastic and I suggested that she take some time and finish. I said that I would get some flashlights and allow her the ability to see what she was doing. At first she was going to say no, and then she said “Okay!” I marveled as the newly crowned Homecoming Queen was now on the ground drawing with chalk. I borrowed an extension cord, borrowed some halogen lighting, and then stepped back as she worked for an hour and a half coloring a face. By the end she was covered in chalk on her clothes, her hands, and her face. She looked more like an orphan in Annie than royalty, and these efforts helped her draw the important things into focus, complete her commitment, and it helped keep her feet grounded in what could have been the start of spoiled brat syndrome. Haily is a good girl and she is taking all of this in stride. Look closely at the main blog entry image and you can see how happy she is working on her chalk drawing.

AARON - Aaron was promoted to the JV Cross Country team at Orem High. He loves to run and just participated in the BYU Invitational over the weekend. The advancement means that he gets to travel with the team to Boise, Idaho this weekend and participate in the huge Jim Furman Invitational. These events are crazy with hundreds of runners going anywhere from 3.1 to 3.3 miles in under 20 minutes... He absolutely loves it!

ADAM - Adam moved into BYU housing and is working full time and going to school with about a 3/4 schedule. We see him at family events, so we try to schedule lots. He brought Rian Shephard to the Homecoming football game to see Haily, then he walked across the street to see Aaron run, and then came along and photographed while I recorded Shelly’s play. He is working towards and early 2014 mission call. Moving out have got him re-invigorated in life again, and it is good to see him as a productive part of the human race again. You would have laughed as he and I ran out of gas together late Saturday night. We found a milk jug, walked to the gas station, and then returned to the Blazer to get it going again. He was such a pleasure to break down with... He is a great young man!!!

JESSICA - Jessica was able to bring her clad to the Orem High football game and watch the Tigers crush the Murray team 56 to 7. She knew every cheer and she was the loudest as Haily’s name was announced. Watching her little Poppy look at Haily in her incredible gown and sparkly crown will remain a treasured family memory.

MICHAEL - I am starting the new week absolutely exhausted. I found myself running around all weekend trying to be supportive and document all of the family events. One of the most tiring things for me was climbing my tall ladder over a hundred times to capture all the artwork at Chalk The Block. The artists were very thankful for my efforts, but ladder work is tiring on the feet, legs, back, and shoulders. I also had fun videotaping and shooting all of the Orem runners at the BYU Invitational. I also recorder Arsenic and now have to produce the DVD for the cast. Somewhere in the weekend I made it to Jesslynn Parker’s wedding reception, and she looked so lovely.

And then Adam and I got to put the fear of our Almighty in Mason Thorpe as he arrived to take Haily to the Homecoming dance. As for regrets... I wish that Shelly would have been able to miss Friday nights performance of Arsenic so that she could have also seen Haily as her name was announced.

I know that pride can be a bad thing, but right now I am very proud of my wonderful family.

We miss you and hope that your health will return so that you can carry forth the work. Our Sister and Elder missionaries attended and spoke at our Stake Conference sessions over the weekend and I was so inspired that I came home and started to index names again. It had been a while, but the focus of the conference is that every little bit helps. I can do more...

Get healthy!!!

Love the Leavitt’s - Michael, Shelly, Aaron, Haily, Adam, Jessica and her clan.

Nowadays, many patients become confused when trying to get medications online because they don't know what is existing. To buy remedies online from a respectable web-site is safe. There are only couple of examples. Nowadays thousands articles were published about http://sildenafil-generic.biz/. Did read some about "sildenafil generic"? The so essential aspect you must look for is "generic sildenafil". Sometimes men take more medicines later in breath and some have sexual side effects that result in impotence. Some of medicaments fuel sex drive. If you buy any prescription medicaments like Viagra, check with a heartiness care professional that they are foolproof to take with your other medications. However, with reputable pharmacy you get confidence in knowing that your order is being handled by reputable doctors and that your data is safe.

Michael Leavitt is a long time friend of Sister O’Reilly. She wrangled me into the Canyon View Junior High play system to sew 7 costumes for my Daughter Jessica in her minor role in The Music Man and then the rest is history. Together we have produced some incredible costumes including a giraffe, crocodile, an incredible stilt walker, and my very favorite... Lumiere. Along the way we have procured antique cars, and installed a human flying system so that those much more diminutive than us could soar across the stage. Once I learned to climb inside Miss Kate’s fabulous brain and see a glimpse of her vision, then I could help work to pull it off. Our efforts have been reqarding, but have comewith great sacrifices of time and effort. But this is what has made them so precious and dear. Sacrifice truly does bring forth great blessings!!!
